Woman Arrested for Emblem Fraud, Sentenced to Death

Emblem Fraud Remains Legal

A local woman taken into custody this morning for wearing unauthorized Clavic military emblemery will be executed by hanging.

Officials say they were tipped off by an unnamed citizen. The suspect, identified as 28-year-old Meronika Bishop, was apprehended and transferred to Clavic security forces, who confirmed the insignia as authentic and unauthorized.

Bishop is scheduled to be hanged at 0700 tomorrow under Clavic military law. The punishment falls within international precedent: most nations maintain that impersonation of official insignia warrants transfer to the misrepresented entity, which may then impose sentencing at its discretion. In this case, the sentence is death.

When asked about her motive, Bishop reportedly said she wore the emblem in hopes of receiving a Clavic military ration.

“It’s not about the emblem. It’s about the lie,” said Clavic Commander Ellian Rosk. “If a symbol can be worn by anyone, it stops meaning anything. That’s not a risk we allow.”

As of this writing, only two countries—Scurn and Praul—have outlawed the practice. In all others, emblem fraud remains the sole crime in which the wronged faction determines the penalty.

No additional charges have been filed. No clemency has been requested.

Anika hails from Elward Island, Lothlan and was brought to the Verges in the year AV 10 by Crimson slavers. She escaped and made her way to Everwind City where she panhandled in The Rim and Half District until she had enough to buy a variety of wares, which she hawked on the streets. She did this until she could afford nice clothing and the rest is history.
